HSBC Financial Corporation Limited announced March 21, 2012 that it is winding down its consumer finance business.

After careful assessment, HSBC determined that the consumer finance business no longer supports the Bank's core businesses and growth strategy in Canada. This decision was not taken lightly. Every effort is being made to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible for our customers.

This announcement impacts both the HSBC Finance offices and the Retail Services business.

What does this mean to you?

If you have a mortgage or unsecured loan or a store credit card operated by HSBC Financial Corporation Limited you are still obligated to pay any balance owing on your loan.
